Meet the Doctor

Dr. Laleh Shaban grew up in Iran and moved to the United States in 1977 where she attended La Jolla High School and the University of California San Diego (UCSD) undergraduate program. She also studied abroad at the UTESA School of Medicine in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Dr. Shaban graduated with honors and returned to the United States. She obtained her U.S. citizenship and completed her residency program in internal medicine at St. Joseph´s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

In 1997 she and her husband returned to the California Central Coast where her husband was born and raised, so they could be closer to family and raise their children in this unique environment.

Dr. Shaban started her private practice in January 1999 in both Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo and soon she had over 4,000 patients in her solo practice.

Approximately six years ago she realized that the conventional medical system was “flawed.” It was then that she introduced the “Concierge Practice” and eliminated insurance interference all together. This started her Personal Access Program.  She believes providing internal medicine and primary care services to a smaller group of patients, allows a higher standard of care. She has found this practice to be most beneficial for her patients. With this change, she has also pursued two additional areas of interest; skin care and gerontology.

In order to perfect her cosmetic practice, she trained under many renowned physicians and surgeons such as Dr. Obagi, a dermatologist who practices in Beverly Hills, Dr. Joseff, a plastic surgeon also practicing in Beverly Hills, Dr. Mullholland in Canada and Dr. Morshedian in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Dr. Shaban has been successfully treating patients to improve the health of their skin and restore a more youthful appearance.  As a result of her hard work and dedication, she has the highest ranking practice on the Central Coast, as decided by Medicis and Merz Companies for injecting Sculptra, Radiesse, Restylane, Perlane, Dysport and Xeomin.

Dr. Shaban continues to learn new techniques and procedures. As an advanced injector and certified injection trainer for Medicis Aesthetics, she believes in sculpting the face for a naturally beautiful appearance.  In 2005 she added laser technology to broaden her service spectrum. This is turn has given her patients new and advanced treatment options. She has had a great response to the Obagi Skin Care combined with injectables and lasers. She has been awarded a Diamond Status with Obagi, placing her in the top Obagi sales on the Central Coast. In order to maximize the results she has added medical aesthetic procedures such as chemical peels, microdermabrasions, and facials to her cosmetic practice.

Being double boarded in Geriatric & Internal Medicine has given Dr. Shaban a better understanding of skin health in all age groups. Her passion for internal medicine, geriatrics, and cosmetic practice has allowed her to address a wide range of her patients´ needs.

Dr. Shaban strives for excellence throughout her practice and her staff. She employs professional and qualified staff. The nurses have extensive training in lasers and all injectables and show the same quality and dedication that Dr. Shaban herself shows to every patient.

Dr. Shaban´s aestheticians have gone through extensive training above and beyond the standard that is expected to make sure each patient is achieving their maximum potential in skin care. The staff is experienced and knowledgeable in every aspect of the patients´ skin, from mixing a custom blend facial to recognizing problem areas and seeking solutions. Her patients receive the highest care available to ensure they are “camera ready” wherever they go. Dr. Shaban takes pride in her staff and only recruits the best and most qualified personnel for her practice.

Although Dr. Shaban is based in Morro Bay,  she also sees patients in Avila Beach and Paso Robles.  She is  currently considering expanding her practice internationally to ensure she can provide amazing skin care results to others outside the United States.
